This weekend is my wonderful husband's birthday so I thought I'd go all domestic and bake cookies and a cake. I've been a baker all my life so it's not like I don't know my way around the kitchen. I've always enjoyed baking cakes and cookies and I've done a pretty good job of it in the past.
Not so, today.
I don't know what it was but nothing really turned out looking as good as I had hoped. It all tastes great but as far as looks go, I get a fail on that front.
First, I wanted to make White Chocolate Lemon cookies that I found on Pinterest from Simply Gloria. Here is the picture on her website:
Here are mine:
Don't get me wrong - these cookies are killer good and even though they don't look as wonderful as the picture, they sure do pack an excellent punch and they are super easy to make. My little boy had the best time cooking for Daddy's birthday.
He mostly enjoyed cleaning up after the chocolate cake...
I'll spare you pictures of the cake. It looks pretty sad although I'm sure it will taste good. There really isn't any way to ruin chocolate cake, right?
In other news, I finished up the little bag I was making. I didn't put a closure on it because I liked it as it was - just a small tote to put toys in for a trip or a quick change of clothes for Boy. He's at the age where he doesn't need a diaper bag but a back pack is too large to carry around. With this, I can just throw a few things in it and put it in the back seat of the car for quick access. I took these pictures outside to try and get better light. Sorry, they aren't the best quality but, I've been having a day where nothing is really working out well. I'd like it to look all starched and perfectly formed and it is. It just isn't translating that well onto film. Ah, well, such is life.
Well, I'm off to the store to pick up some pizza dough to make Southwestern Calzones. Yum! Have a great day!
